Pastor

Neil Eugene Ray

An Autobiographical Statement

Neil was born on November 17, 1962, the second of five children born to Kenneth and Bonnie Ray.  Neil’s parents instilled into each of their children Christian values at an early age, providing strong role models that Neil still looks up to and admires today.  Christian fellowship was a very important part of their lives, and they attended worship and Sunday School at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Clear Spring, MD.

In the fall of 1981, Neil began studies at The University of Maryland, majoring in architecture.  He was a member of the symphonic orchestra and the marching band (Go Terps!) – where he played the trombone.

Neil began his professional career as an architectural intern in 1986 at a firm in Washington, D.C. that specialized in healthcare design.  This specialization appealed to him, because this work had a direct impact on patient care.  His last employment prior to attending seminary was at Georgetown University Hospital, where he managed the architectural design and construction department for all of their capital projects.

In 1993 Neil was blessed with the birth of his son, Kenneth.  Two years later (to the day), his daughter Anna Marie was born.

Neil began his seminary studies in May 2004.  Neil received his Divine Call into the Ministry on April 22, 2008, to serve Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Warminster, PA.  He received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana on May 16, 2008.  Neil was honored to be ordained at his home congregation of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Greenbelt, MD on June 15, 2008.

Neil married Jennifer on December 29, 2018.  They are blessed with four grandchildren.  Neil and Jennifer look forward with excitement and anticipation to become part of the family of Saint Paul Lutheran Church.

Malinda Grube

Malinda Grube

CYC Director

I’ve been a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church since birth. My involvement in Youth Group and various church activities is where my passion for teaching started. I graduated from Pennsylvania College of Technology with a degree in Early Childhood Education and have been working in the field for 10+ years. Faith is a huge component of my life, but I also enjoy spending time with my family, running, hiking, hunting, PSU football and cheering on my husband in sprint car racing.
